How To Motivate Yourself To Exercise

dog_run_sm.jpgYou know you need to get moving. That's why you're here reading this article. Chances are your biggest obstacle is summing up the energy and the desire to work out. If you could only find the motivation to exercise you'd be in shape in no time, right? Well here are some novel ways to get yourself motivated:

Reward yourself. Commit to exercising a minimum number of days each week. When you accomplish a specific goal or workout consistently all week, reward yourself with something like a new pair of shoes or even better, a dress in a smaller size. Nothing feels better than dropping a size or two....there is no better motivation!

Do what comes naturally. If it's practically an impossibility for you to work out first thing in the morning and you generally come to life in the afternoon, then schedule time to exercise later in the day. What ever works best for you is perfectly fine. Don't feel pressure to conform to certain ideals. The most important thing is that you do some exercise!

Use your dog as motivation. Your four legged friend needs to get regular exercise to stay happy and healthy. Animals are an excellent source of motivation to get moving. If you can begin to look at exercise as a necessity instead of a chore then you will be able to find the motivation you need.

Hang up your swimsuit. Summer means swimsuit season. Hang up your favorite bikini and place it somewhere you know you will see it every day. When your thinking about skipping out on exercise, one look at that swimsuit and the realization that you have to wear it soon, should be all the motivation you need!

Take before and after photos. Throughout the course of your fitness program taking photos of yourself periodically and place them side by side so you can witness your progress. This will work as excellent motivation to keep moving forward.

Inform everyone of your fitness goals. This will make it extremely difficult to pass up a workout. The more people who know you are trying to get fit, the more people there will be to track your progress and hopefully give you that much needed boost from time to time.
